The Dental Awards 2011: Hygienist of the Year finalist - Christina Chatfield - May 2011

The Dental Awards 2011 were held at Lancaster London Hotel on Friday 6th May. Teams and individuals from dental practices across the UK came together to celebrate the outstanding level of clinical care and patient service they provide. Christina was one of the four finalists from across the UK for the Dental Hygienist of the Year award 2011. This award is not nominated by patients but by others in the dental profession.

Christina was honored to be nominated by her fellow dental hygiene/therapy colleagues who say; "Christina is an entrepreneur of her time and a winner in our eyes."

Her nominators describe her as "a passionate, proactive dental hygienist, who has been at the forefront of education and career development for over two decades. She entered the world of dental hygiene as a young, impressionable individual who wanted to change the world of dental hygiene. She is currently leading a working party group to explore the issues surrounding direct access for dental hygienists/therapists. She has set up one of the first hygiene led dental business in the UK, whose primary focus is to bring dental hygiene to the high street and allow people access to a service through choice, accessibility, care and empowerment."

The Dental Awards 2011 was organised by Purple Media Solutions Ltd (publishers of The Probe, Smile and BDNJ). The event was sponsored by The Dental Web, Dentsply, Software of Excellence, Waterpik and Wrigley.
