Christina Chatfield; director, dental hygienist and owner at Dental Health Spa, alongside Sarah Murray, who is Principal Tutor at the London Hospital Medical College, have been successful in winning a Colgate DCP Research Award in partnership with The Oral and Dental Research Trust in March 2011. They will be mentored and supervised by Margaret Ross: Senior Lecturer, University of Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental Institute.

A maximum of 4 awards, of up to £5000 each, were available on the basis of an application for support of investigations of clinical relevance, particularly in the field of preventative care. The applicant had to be a DCP of which they all are but with different areas of expertise and knowledge. This will be a practice based study looking at knowledge, attitudes and behaviours in relation to oral health.

Christina believes they will make a great team and they all attended a champagne reception and luncheon at the British Dental Annual Conference in Manchester in May 2011 to celebrate their success and receive the award.
